Fear into Courage
Overcoming fear and developing the courage to take risk.
In this session I’m going to show you some simple but effective ways
to overcome fear by:
· First understanding where many of our fears come from.
· Then understanding why we allow those fears to control us
· I’m also going to show you how preparation and planning will take the uncertainty out of life and start you on the road with courage.
· Then by understanding that you begin to developing certainty that will allow you to successfully take risk and enjoy the process.
So let’s get started. Fear is what holds us back from what we want in life more than any thing else. Fear is a sense of felling unprepared. Everything we do in life is in an effort to reduce risk. It might be on an unconscious level, but we’re always looking for certainty which gives us the feeling of being in control. If you’re feeling stressed out it means you’re losing your sense of control . . . it means we’re fearful. You might not use that language but that’s what’s at the root of your stress. In many respects our ability to overcome fear will always be in direct proportion to our level of success in life.
Flying high is not always the safest place; in fact it stands to reason that the higher we fly, the further we may fall. The risk is always greater when we’re in unknown territory, but the potential rewards are almost infinite. We all dream of fearlessly taking off to heights of greatness with our aspirations, but often people settle for life on the ground operating far below their potential for success and happiness. Any time you take a great risk, you stand the chance of losing big particularly if your not following proper principles. The greater the risk, the greater the loss can be. One of the main themes of Jump . . . And the Net Will Appear is about facing our fears. I’m not advocating living life as a wild gambler going off on hare-brained, get-rich-quick schemes, jumping blindly into relationships, or conjuring up half-cocked business deals. But every courageous move a person makes in their lives involves a certain amount of risk.
· It’s taking a risk to recommit to a difficult relationship.
· It’s taking a risk to tell someone you love them.
· It’s taking a risk to raise children.
· It’s taking a risk to commit to a better diet or exercise.
· It’s taking a risk lay it on the line and immerse yourself in the career that you love.
Remember the success we achieve will always be in direct proportion to the risks we are willing to take. - Robin Crow
